A table setting is one of the most beautiful statements one can make during the holidays. The way you set your table: shows the tone/feeling that people have about being together. It lets people know you think they are important enough to put in extra effort for them. It influences the appearance of the food served and makes the evening aesthetically pleasing!
- Table Runners
A long table runner adds drama, unifying centerpieces with the rest of the table. A less formal arrangement for a table runner places shorter runners widthwise across the table. This creates a sense of visual unity across the dining table and if you use enough of them, you can skip the placemats altogether and just use a fun charger. If your dining table is really long, table runners placed widthwise can serve as a visual and physical divider between place settings.

- Placemats
This is where all the fun comes in. You can work in tonal neutrals for a formal look, the latest seasonal colors for a casual aesthetic, or luxurious fabrics for an upscale feel. Handwoven fibers add texture and interest.

- Place Cards
I’ve been seeing a lot of place card settings lately! They are a great way to make the setting more personal and can create some sense of belonging as a guest which to me adds a nice touch.

- Create Ambience
Candles are one of our absolute favorite ways to create a mood. They truly make a tablescape glow while creating a cozy, comfortable vibe. Use metal, wood, ceramic, or glass candle holders to compliment your table decor.
Quick Tip: Don’t use scented candles for centered meals. The scents compete with natural food aromas and take away from rather than enhance the design.
- Give Your Table Decor Life
Nothing livens up a table more than natural elements. Use flowers, foliage, fruit, or vegetables in your tablescape to provide texture, color, and fragrance. If live natural elements aren’t practical (eg. seasonal or allergies) then faux items can certainly create an attractive centerpiece. Experiment with using driftwood, branches, eucalyptus, wildflowers, leaves, acorns, or pine cones in your arrangements to decorate your dining table for the holidays.
